The Practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

My Ashtanga Vinyasa classes are suitable for absolutely everybody, both women and men, beginners through to advanced.

In an Ashtanga Vinyasa style class we bind the movements of the body with the breath, cleansing the body of any stagnant energy.

Typical to the traditional Ashtanga practice we begin with a series of standing postures. These postures not only offer an incredible sense of grounding, they build strength, stamina, flexibility and are teach us how to utilize our breath efficiently. These are followed with a series of seated postures which include backbends, inversions and finally, the most important posture of all; savasana.

The meaning of Vinyasa; the union of these movements with our breathing.

In an Ashtanga Vinyasa class we knit the grounding postures of the Ashtanga primary series with a Vinyasa style flow, enjoying the fluidity and expression through movement that Vinyasa Flow has to offer.

Ashtanga Vinyasa classes can sometimes be demanding, however I will offer variations to suit everybody.

I believe yoga is the perfect tool to tap into how our body is feeling on a deeper level, so this class is perfect if you want to work up heat in the body, build energy and challenge yourself… Or perhaps you may fancy taking it easy and enjoying the class at a more mind-full pace.

Ashtanga Vinyasa is a yang style practice, and is great for inviting energy (prana) into the body.

It is hugely important to me, to allocate a sufficient amount of time at the end of each class for stillness, rest, and finally meditation, allowing not only the body to relax and decompress, but also the mind.

I am passionate about Yoga Philosophy and try my best to and apply it in my classes in hopes that people may find space for it both on and off the yoga mat.

It would be lovely to share this wonderful practice with you.
